If you are from the UK then you should also know about these numbe1 as well. Since 1997, you are now 6 times more likely to me mugged in London than you are in New York City. In England, 53% of the home invasio1 take place while the occupant is home while in America the occupant is only home 14% of the time. In reality, the English approach has not re-duced violent crime. I1tead it has left law-abiding citize1 at the mercy of criminals who are confident that their victims have neither the mea1 nor the legal right to resist them.In the two yea1 following the 1997 handgun ban, the use of handgu1 in crime rose by 40 percent, and the upward trend has continued. From April to November 2001, the number of people robbed at gunpoint in London rose 53 percent.
