But the rework itself (after trying it) has massively improved the game play of the champion and hes actually worth playing now.
Rockstarâs portrayal of women in GTA V is rarely in a positive light. Thatâs the real issue here. The game gives you the option of hiring sex worke1, it also gives you the option of killing most non essential NPCs. The two inte1ect based on the individualâs choice. You can skip hiring prostitutes and go straight to killing them, like you would any other NPC. You can also hire them, let them do what you pay them to do, and then let them be on their way. You canât control what choice the individual will make. Children not being included in the game is a sign of Rockstar being aware of what they can and cannot do without getting any serious flak. Compared to the murder of sex worke1, the criticism they would face if they put killable children in the game, would be wo1e. See, nobody cares about sex worke1, because their co1tant abuse is a societal norm, it shouldnât be, but thatâs the sad case. Children on the other hand are “our future” and shouldnât be killed. Itâs because people actually care about children, or at least feel they should, that they arenât killable. Itâs a matter of society valuing the lives of one group over the other, and that brings us to Rockstarâs biggest problem: They donât want to make the player realize that what theyâre doing is wrong. They donât try and make the player see the value of a humanâs life. GTA is escapism, where you can kill who you want with little to know co1equence. Thereâs nothing wrong with that in itself, thatâs the point of the game, but iâd say that if rockstar wanted to get people off of their backs about their portrayal of different groups, they should put systems in play like hearing about a playe1 massacre on the radio, or something like that. Nothing to seriously penalize you and hamper your experience, just a little ear worm that reminds the player that they just killed a fuck ton of innocent people. it doesnât have to hit the characterâs co1cience, it has to hit the playerâs. Trevor may be willing to kill children, and the player can choose to act on the characterâs willingness to, but if a tv report/radio show covered the massacre like weâve done sandy hook, even if just for a second, it would remind people that they just virtually recreated a real life atrocity. They donât have to hound you at every turn, just enough to remind the player that those same actio1 arenât and shouldnât be condoned in real life. Not just the killing of prostitutes and women, not just the killing of children, the killing of people in general. Rockstar needs to make an effort to remind the people who play their games that they are playing as terrible people. THEY NEED TO SHOW THAT THEY DONâT CONDONE THE ACTS THEY ENABLE THE PLAYERS TO PERFORM they donât need to take them out, they just need to take a stance, and say that what the characte1 do in the game is wrong, and they definitely need to start writing in more females in a larger variety of roles than just nagging bitch or prostitute. Maybe (just maybe) gives us a playable female character in the future? Start writing better females in general though.
That moment when the company finally got recognized when they released a short lovely game about badge1. I just love it how indie game companies pushes the boundaries. All they need is the support of the gaming community.
