The risk to the industry is in Star Citizen’s success, not its failure. It is a disruptive business model which cuts out the biggest money player in the games industry, the publisher.nThis isn’t to say that the gaming industry will cease to exist, it’s that publishe1 will have to adapt, or die trying, to an industry that no longer needs them.nTo be honest, the damage is likely already done, whether or not Star Citizen is a success or not.

In my case I just PVR everything. I don’t know how it is in the states but in Canada (more specifically Quebec), the two leading and really only choices for providing Cable television offer PVR services in whatever cable box they offer. I currently have the option to record up to eight shows at the same time and have over one TB of storage to record shows. So, I co1tantly have a back-log of shows to watch when there’s nothing entertaining on to watch.nI kind of feel for the networks in this case. It’s not that I don’t like what they’re offering, I’m just too busy with life to book off specific times during the week for TV show I can record and watch when they aren’t offering anything I want to watch. I wish they would take PVR recordings of their shows in to account for ratings and make a more informed decision on whether or not to cut a show. Even though I can skip the commercials when watching the recorded shows, I hardly ever do.nI always felt bad recording the new Muppets show they put out as I knew me not supporting it live was hurting it but I just don’t have the time. The only thing I try to make time for is live sports. Aside from that I really can’t be bothered.nEven with reboots like The X-Files I don’t know if I can find the time to watch them when they air. Again, I’ll probably just record them.
